Description

Origin
Vines have been cultivated in the climatically favorable region south of Vienna for more than 2,000 years. The vines benefit from the Pannonian climate, with hot summers and dry autumns. Constant air movement allows the grapes to dry quickly after dew or rain in the fall. The relatively heavy soils with a high shell limestone content give the wine character and depth. The underlying weathered debris helps with drainage and warming, resulting in fully ripe, healthy grapes. The Anninger is a 700-meter-high mountain on the easternmost foothills of the Alps. At the foot of the Anninger lies Gumpoldskirchen and the vineyards for this wine.

Wine description

Bright cherry red hue. A fruit-accented bouquet wafting with Amarena cherry, plum, wild game pâté with cranberry, a hint of lilac and, of course, forest floor, which lends varietal typicity. Lovely mouthfeel and notes of blackberry yoghurt, sour cherry, blood orange and sea buckthorn with a hint of saltiness. Vital acidity and elegant extract sweetness. Plentiful tight, firm tannins. An elegant and powerful wine with a long, refreshing finish. Opens up beautifully with air. (tasted by wine academic Johannes Fiala)

The rich, full palate exudes excellent harmony, crystal-clear fruitiness - cherry and lemon sorbet - fine tannins, and a silky texture. Calm and lingering - remarkable length ! – with a discreet salty finish. Burgundian character par excellence. (tasted by wine academic Johannes Fiala)
