Description

Origin
Dechant – The eastern slope immediately below the Käferberg, at 250 to 300 meters above sea level, is one of the few “red wine islands” in the Kamptal. The medium-heavy loess soil is easily warmed and well aerated, with heavy red-colored clay underneath, providing good growing conditions for the complex Burgundy variety. The vines, facing southeast, dry quickly in the morning, so that the sensitive Pinot Noir grapes can always be harvested healthy and ripe.

Wine description

Silky ruby-red hue with a bright rim. The nose is complex with scents of cherry, blood orange, beetroot and other root vegetables, Ashanti and forest soil. The palate, lean and fruit-driven, reveals discreet tannins, graceful extract sweetness and lively acidity with notes of Amarena and sour cherry. The finish, with a fine tartness, first shows a silky texture and then yields a taut mineral grip. (tasted by wine academic Johannes Fiala)

Wine description

Transparent ruby-garnet hue. Floral scents of violets and lilacs along with notes of dried prune, cherry and a hint of leather; fruit aromas dominate as the wine opens. The palate is taut and reflects an elegant body, a chalky texture and a firm tannic grip. Salty, vibrant and wonderfully dry with discreet fruity flavours - cherry, cranberry and blood orange - and a long, refreshing finish. Its cool character, varietal typicity and sophistication are even more evident with air.(tasted by wine academic Johannes Fiala)
