Description

Origin
The Thermenregion, which in linguistic usage will probably always remain the “southern runway”, represents the wine-growing region directly bordering Vienna in the south, which occupies a special position among Lower Austria’s wine-growing regions. It can look back on a long tradition. The vineyards of Gumpoldskirchen, situated on the gentle eastern and southern slopes of Eichkogel and Anninger, are reminiscent of Burgundy in terms of their landscape, which also applies to the soil structures, as the subsoil here is unusually calcareous. These are perfectly suited for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, which has recently been rediscovered for this terroir. The local colour of Gumpoldskirchen is of course characterised by the autochthonous varieties Zierfandler and Rotgipfler. The repeatedly invoked uniqueness of these grape varieties has led to their increasing appreciation. The grapes come from the Weinführer site, a slope facing east. The vines were planted in 1936!

Vinification
Long maceration of 24 hours, pressing and fermentation in wooden casks. Afterwards maturation on the yeast. Bottled on 14 April 2008 and put down for bottle maturation.
